Massage in Combe

The effects and benefits of massage have been known and experienced for a very long time. In fact, recordings of massage go back to 3000BC in China and there are many references to massage being used for social, religious, cosmetic and sports rituals and activities in the earliest civilisations in Japan, Egypt, Greece and India. All of these countries are known, both past and present for their interest in the holistic approach to medicine. The term ‘Holistic’ comes from the Greek word ‘holos’, meaning whole.

Today massage is as important as ever to include in your repertoire of self -care. Massage covers many bases.

Massage is a way to relieve stress for the muscular system by aiding the circulatory system and lymphatic system to rid the body of toxins and at the same time increase the flow of healthy blood. Both serve to heal overworked muscles and help with a general sense of wellbeing.

At the same time the flow of continuous hand movements on the body’s largest organ, the skin, help to soothe and bring about total relaxation. The continuous contact between the hands of the therapist and the client provides the ultimate healing power of touch, where breathing slows down, the mind becomes quieter and the healing process begins.

Including massage as a regular treatment to harness good physical and mental health is so important and making a regular commitment to self-care need not be a ‘luxury’ to be afforded only when the mind and body have had enough.
